Yes I have found d zelkovs grow best in perlite....perhaps with 20% large vermiculite also........there is 20% shredded stonewool in mine......... We'll definitely need good water n p h and cal mag in a pure volcanic

Yes.........need 40psi of pressure which almost all homes have naturally.

First,they are Zelkova. All plants with this means a ph issue or a common effect from practice......bad water,chlorine,ph,too strong nutrient.As all plants are generally affected at once. Too wet and warm would affect single plants first with their problems of activating dormant plant pathogens...

I will store them temporarily in bandpots before sale.....whatever is not potted right away in Spring...that way no danger of circling roots .....circling roots will endanger a transplanting out of usual season. These will be air-pruned all the time and may even be able to be shipped, wrapped...

HERE IS THE REST OF THEM ALL Great how they immediately went into a very hardy and pre-dormant state in a month.

IN THE MONTH SINCE MY LAST POST ON THE OUTDOOR PINE SEEDLINGS THEY HAVE UNDERGONE A SIGNIFICANT SEASONAL CHANGE..... It has definitely sparked an interest in the quick difference in color and also pine sap and terpines flowing in the small plant. This has readied even the weaker yellowing ones...

HERE WE ARE @ 4 WEEKS FROM TRANSPLANTING!!!! I am pleased with the performance of these cuttings in the perlite @ 4 weeks now. Daily watering and no chance of overwatering. The co2 fertilization definitely hastening growth by a good 50% or more.......In a good way.

These have a nice slower growth to them and look real healthy.Definately a testament to the perlite.......zelkova do great in pure perlite..... Great job! I decided a forest for mine.........I am getting away from stonewool .........perhaps I will get to the kabudachi again...
