Princess Persimmon: Best time to move from grow bed to training pot?

Some are that size, some are smaller. My issue is that I am tearing out the grow bed in spring and moving it to a different area in my yard. :)

Princess Persimmon: Best time to move from grow bed to training pot?

Hey everyone, I have about 10 princess persimmons (male and female) that are all from root cuttings and have been in a grow bed for the last 2 years. I'm located in Raleigh, NC (7b), and trying to determine whether I should be collecting them now and moving to training pots. I have read that...

    When to trench?

I have a few tridents, Korean hornbeams, weeping cherries that are in the ground now and I want to move them to another area of my yard that has full sun. I assume this process is best done in the spring so I'm wondering if now is a good time to trench the roots so that they start pushing finer...

Does anyone have photos or examples of cascading Japanese Flowering Quince?

So can I interpret your comment to mean I need to be digging it in fall and not in spring?

Does anyone have photos or examples of cascading Japanese Flowering Quince?

I have a toyonishiki I am going to be digging up in spring that is perfect for cascade style but I wanted to see other examples to get some ideas.

Can you wedge cut a hinoki?

I have a hinoki that I wanted to add a bend on a younger trunk. Do they take well to wedge cuts?

I agree with the reduction of branches in time. Just not ready to do that quite yet. :)

Years before checking on a trident on a rock?

Unfortunately, I didn't take them as I was making them. The pics now would just be of a acoue of 3 gallon pots with a smudge of rock sticking out. :)

Years before checking on a trident on a rock?

After putting a trident on a rock, how many years before you check on it? I placed two on rocks this last spring and figured it was a two year wait before checking but wanted to confirm. I used the method of draping the roots over then adding sphagnum round the roots and plastic wrap, tightly...

    Trident Fusion project

Thanks but for the record, there was no courage involved! The first time I had cancer they knocked me out and chopped my nut off... :) courage would have been doing that WITHOUT being knocked out!!! :P The second time was chemo, that was easy since I got a steroid that made me feel like a...

    Trident Fusion project

All good, folks. I make daily jokes about missing a nut. :) After having cancer twice, very little bothers me about it. The best way to go through things like cancer is to make jokes the entire time. I would sit in chemo laughing and joking. If you read my blog post on Sperm Banking, you will...

The only time I need balls in bonsai is when I do heavy bends or make big cuts. ;)

I am trying to figure out how to best calculate the optimal size wire frame and how many seedlings I will need. Anyone have experience with trident fusion and care to share any tips or lessons learned? Much appreciated.

Root gall on my Princess Persimmon?

Thanks. If some of the gall goes down into the soil line, should I be removing soil this close to winter or should I be waiting until spring when I repot?

Root gall on my Princess Persimmon?

Need some guidance on the best way to deal with what appears to be root gall on my Princess Persimmon. It has been in this flat for 2 years now. Do I wait until spring and then pull it out and cut it all off, repotting it? Or do I deal with it now before the first frost and keep it in my...
