First air layer failer, what to do?

I clipped this guy off the tree cause half the leaves fell off in the heat and the rest were yellowing, the other layers show heat stress wilting and bit of discoloration. Here's one of the others right after I did it back in the middle of June. Maybe I'll throw some tinfoil over them.

First air layer failer, what to do?

Hi, I have a fairly large lilac that needed a trim this spring so I tried out a few air layers on it. One of them recently started having yellowed leaves so I checked it and there's no root started. I'm afraid the other 3 will be similar, is there anything I can do to help make roots grow...

    Timing big bends on Ponderosa

Hi, I got a new Ponderosa and I'd like to throw some big bends into it. What's the best time of year to do this? I'm going to pluck all the needles along the trunk and wrap it with some raffia then apply some thick copper and try and get some movement in it. It's still pretty flexible so kinda...

A learning experience: Lost 5 collected Black Spruce this June.

That cool, musta missed reading that. My only black spruce I collected in early June 2017. It spent the first summer in the shade behind my garage. Pulled it outta the side of a hill so it was planted leaning over but has since righted itself.

A learning experience: Lost 5 collected Black Spruce this June.

Hey man I'm way up in Canada too, just a lot west of you and not quiet as remote. So pumice might not be the easiest to find but the best mix I've found is antislip lava rock from home hardware which is kinda seasonal and fired clay floor absorbent, I get mine from princess auto. I usually...

Anyone have experience with mutagenic compounds?

I've got a bunch of spruce that were hit with a deffoliant about 6 years ago, not really mutagenic but they've been stunted for a few years. Mostly all you get is a sickly tree. This little guy puts out needles half the size of normal, but just barely put out new growth each year. Others have...

Fall collection and spring to do list

We got a lot of swings, down to -20 then back up to 0. Figured this cherry was done for but it popped a couple leaves and now buds are popping at the crooks of all the dead branches.

    Mugo help

Thanks @Deep Sea Diver ! This is its 4th year in this pot so that works out good. I think I'll be keeping these 2 green branches and removing the rest since they seem to all come out of the same spot. Probably shoulda done it earlier since it's starting to get a bit of a buldge. I've removed...

    Mugo help

Hi, I have this mugo pine and it's kinda a mess, i havent really done anythig to it for a few years. I have been hoping to get some back budding to shorten the branches but I'm not sure what I can actively do to promote it. I'd also like to remove a bunch of the branches but not sure how many I...

    Anyone have a Korean Maple?

It doesn't lose as much of the tips over winter anymore but I didn't do a very good job at the trunk chop. Probably due for another big clipping.

    Old juniper in Northern BC?

I think most of the yellowing is an artifact of the camera, the green newer growth is quite similar to all the other trees. There's definitely some yellowing of the older growth I haven't removed.

    Old juniper in Northern BC?

I haven't tested for mites, I assume just shake over a piece of paper? Could just be my phone it's old. Like its not strong by any means not sure what was being done to it to get almost 100% juvenile growth.

    Old juniper in Northern BC?

Thanks for all the info, making a box is a great idea as I have a few other trees I boxes ive made. I wish I was in zone 4a, but the canadian and American zone might be bit different its zone 3 here in Canada. I might just be being overly cautious with the pot, this other juniper made it...

    Old juniper in Northern BC?

OK cool, I'm on the right track then. It wasn't in a pot over the winter as it gets -30°C here so there's a decent chance of it cracking. It wasn't wired into the pot either so just putting it back in for the season. I don't think there was a real good amount of moisture getting to the middle as...

    Old juniper in Northern BC?

Well it's alive, there's a couple big branches that didn't make it and one that's real weak. I've Cleaned all the dead little branches and the one big dead one. There's a big band of no roots in the middle looks like it was previously a mix of garden soil, wood shavings and granite gravel...
