I purchased a Delta Dawn Bougainvillea cutting early this year and it’s been growing like weed. This is a variegated variety with blooms that are kind of a yellow/orange. I decided to attempt a cascade style with this one. It’s in a nursery pot currently and I’ll keep in there until next year. I did already purchase a cascade style training pot for it. I guess it’s a training pot because it’s plastic? Very sturdy feeling though. I went ahead and styled the some of the branches. I think I’ll need to do some more research on cascade techniques but I’m pretty happy with where it is right now, considering I just purchased it 6 months ago. I’ve pruned the side and top branches but am letting the downward leader just go. I just moved from an apartment to a house a couple weeks ago. The outdoor area I had at the apartment only got 3-5 hours of direct sun per day so none of bougainvillea bloomed this entire year
…. But now at my new house they are all getting full sun and starting to bloom one by one
which I am totally ok with even if it takes some of their growing vigor. I have plenty of other trees that don’t bloom so I like to enjoy these when they do. Any how let me know what you think of the styling and if you have any tips, tricks, knowledge regarding Cascades I would love to hear it. Thanks! Ps: last picture is just to show the color it will put out eventually.
