I've seen these trees and all are magnificent. One is heading to the Nationals this year [Bob is much too modest to tell you that] And Bob has made the pots for at least 2 of these trees.

Not sure of the Variety but they are all the same I had a few guesses from people who apprenticed in Japan but no one is positive which one they are.

Anybody buy White pines from Japan Nursery in the 80's and know the Variety?

You could try to ground layer it.
If it takes it’s Zuishio, if not it’s dead.
