I have been working on a few new ideas recently and would like your feedback please.

The pots shown are all small mame or accent type pots. They are all approx. 2 1/4" square and range in height from 2" to 4 3/4".

What do you think about the pots? In particular, the way they are finished.

Regards,
Paul

Here are a couple more.

What do you think of the finish on these two?

Thanks for your time.

The lip on the ladle looks like something laquered and vaguely familiar in the dark clay, not so much in the lighter.

The edges of the squares do look more appealing nude with the interesting panels between them, the leathery vase may be better slightly darker.

Maybe a concave chamfer to the vertical edges of squares would break up the 90 degree monotony inherent in a square and give the feel of something slightly more than.

In your first batch the gold one seems a bit too loud - would probably distract too much from the tree. I like all the rest of them.

Do you have a website where you sell them?

It seems there is another facet to design that may or may not be overlooked, that of imagination by candlelight.

A pot by daylight is easy for the eye to comprehend but at night with only the light from the paper lantern what can be seen is only one third of the picture, there is what was seen merged with what was thought to be seen and what was wholly unseen and fantastical.

Thus the miscomprehension of shape, texture and colour becomes a memory,a memory that may perhaps be realised in a new design.

Maybe others have almost seen this form and will recognise it if made tangible, maybe even be able to discriminate between good, bad and ugly examples.

The new pot is placed on it's bench and the process continues.

Maybe on a night of strong wind and an unseasonal chill different forms could be discerned in the guttering candlelight, maybe the fierce storms and lightning causes more powerful changes to the clay in the potters hand.

Klytus,

Thanks, I appreciate your suggestions.

Your reference to "something lacquered and vaguely familiar", is this good or bad?

Klytus,

I'm not quit sure what your intent is but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

Cheers,
Paul

Here are two more for your consideration.

The first two photos are of a pot that was fired in a soda kiln. What do you think of the finish?

Thanks,
Paul
