A review of two tool cases

I was looking for a more convenient way to safely store my growing array of tools than their original individual packaging, but couldn't find anything locally so I turned to AliExpress and found these two cases. Both were a bargain on AliExpress obviously so I figured I'd try them both out. The blue one just arrived after a big shipping delay (I suspect China was taking Holland-bound packages hostage because of the Nexperia controversy, which was resolved just before my package received its first new shipping update in two months, funny coincidence...), so now I can compare them.

I much prefer the blue one already, though I've been using the brown one for at least a month by now. The blue one is much roomier, though it's not purpose-built for bonsai tools and I couldn't find a proper spot for those bulky root shears, but everything else still fits well enough and the backing is very rigid with a wide spine so there's plenty of room for things not to grind together while it's closed. Not to mention I could fit more tools in it with room to spare still for future purchases or other odds and ends, and the big pouch on the front can hold at least 4 x 80gr rolls of wire on spools.
I think the synthetic canvas material of the blue one will also hold up a lot better than the cheap soft pleather of the brown one.

Here's the links for both cases on AliExpress:

Nice comparison.

Nowadays we’ve switched to tool rolls.. back to Ye Good Ole Days.
