...a varigated trident maple

Yes there is such a thing, though looking at that particular tree I am having a hard time seeing the foliage. Look up trident maple 'Goshiki kaede'.

For example: Broken Arrow Nursery

Thanks! I do see the varigated in that one you shared... I just didn't see the varigated foliage On this photo. Looked closely...I see no varigated at all.

I just posted one in a fix my trident thread. That are super slow growing. I mean super slow. Like half inch trunk takes ten or more years.

Not interested...for myself, just didn't see the leaf here as varigated. But thanks for the heads up...so different than what I think of Trident though.

@Cadillactaste ,

Darlene,

you need to chillax, here have a cup of 90 deg.C White tea.
Did you look at the page ?
The maple is a fake.
Supposed to make you laugh :)

From my world of eternal spring, I send you a cooling breeze and the scent of Sweet Lime [ Murraya p ]
smells like Jasmine, called the 10 mile fragrance in China.
If you were able I would say get one just for the calming fragrance.
Have a great day.
Anthony

@Anthony ...I never opened the link. I am that...anti maple. Just saying...chillax...I'm chillaxing...The trees I have on my bench...I'm not stressing over. Just not going to be a maple. Just didn't realize there was such a thing as varigated trident. To hear they are slow growers are mind boggling when tridents usually are fast growers. But...I believe Al when he said that.

You can see a little variegation on one leaf in the top right corner and one leaf in the bottom left corner ;-)
I suppose...just, would have imagined it brighter. And more variation of the tree itself. Almost pondered the color of those few leaves you mentioned...as if it was varigated...or ...something else I was seeing.

There are actually a few Acer buergerianum cultivars, but they are very rare and difficult to propagate.

'Akebono', very similar to:
'Goshiki kaede':

'Eastwood Cloud':
http://www.mendocinomaples.com/acer-species-cultivars/a-buergerianum-eastwood-cloud

Etc. This is from Gregory & Vertrees "Japanese maples" (Timber Press). They list 18 of them, and there may be a couple more.

One I would definitely like to lay my hand on is 'Mino Yatsubusa':

But this is the maple enthusiast speaking, not the bonsai master-to-be  : all these trees are grafted, and I'm not sure at all they would make decent bonsai....

Variegated leaf trees rarely make good bonsai anyway (I wrote "rarely").

Jeez, I don't know how you could look at @Smoke 's tridents or @MACH5 's JMs and NOT want one or maybe 50 maples. I'm no expert but I think that anthracnose that everyone has been getting is more prevalent in certain areas of the country. I have 2 tridents and they have been very trouble free and tough. I've only been working with them for 2 years so I have limited experience but I wouldn't be scared off by the troubles you've been reading about.

My thoughts exactly! Of course i have hundreds of maple cultivars in the yard so i am kind of biased. I am blown away whenever i see Machs or Smokes maple work!
