Was out taking pictures today in the yard and came across this guy. Don't know what type of spider he is, but he was fun playing around with him during his photo shoot.

I love taking cool pictures of my trees and the neat little critters I find out there. I have a really nice camera that I don't even know how to use though....I would love to actually learn how.

That's a cool looking spider though...really colorful! I always leave those guys alone since they will hopefully keep everything else to a minimum.

I am with you on the camera! I have a nice one too and my wife bought me a macro lens. The two together will do more than I could possibly fathom. The only way to figure it out is to use it. I must have taken 30 pictures of this spider to get these, and these are not great.

Thanks,

John

Funny story about one time I did try to use it....

I was taking pictures of my trees about a year or so ago. I tried over and over to get the damn flash to work but was having trouble. Searching settings, hitting buttons, turning knobs, etc. About an hour goes by and finally I said screw it I will try it again on a different day. Just as I start to put things away my wife comes into the garage and I start complaining about it and show her what I was doing. Turns out the bill of my hat wouldn't let the flash open up on top of the camera....yeah, I felt like a total idiot.

Thanks Colin!

LOL, Jarrod. There was one day I was repotting a bunch of trees and was snapping pictures like crazy, trying to document it all. On the last one I noticed the blinking red message on the view-screen---"NO CARD". I had forgotten to put the SD card in it so all of the pictures that I had taken were not saved. One of my many "I am and idiot moments".

I don't own a camera just this phone. Not too shabby. Macro setting off for this picture even.2015-05-09 15.05.57.jpg

Eeeeuww... i would scream and run away.

Defense against the VC.

Everyone should have one!

I hope he sticks around. I have increasing problems with chipmunks chewing on my trees. The Amur forest just visible on the slab in the foreground has many bulging scars on its trunks from chipmunks biting off portions of them. Hopefully, this hefty 5' Black Snake might be big enough to take care of my problem.
