Another example would be the Japanese beech.

If somebody was looking for a Japanese beech, you would NOT want to recommend the Fagus japonica (Japanese blue beech). The correct answer would be Fagus crenata.

However, for the uninitiated, Fagus japonica sounds very much like Japanese beech.....at least to me does....

Anyway I was looking more for Ilex crenata and it took me well more then 20 seconds to find nothing worth looking at. Thanks Poink!

Just to clear things up. A few posts down from the beginning I specified Ilex Crenata. I too am very familiar with the winterberry. But I was given permission to dig up a giant ilex Crenata before this spring to make way for a sidewalk if I wanted it. So I asked to see some pictures curious as to how they turn out.
