Anybody heard of Steve Ziebarth?

I know I will get resistance here, but let me say I am also a potter and this work is astounding and far beyond my skill level. The one that the op shows is a fantastic bonsai pot that I would aspire towards. The crab pots are unbelievably skillful, and I would love to have one as a piece of art but there is no way I would plant in it ... for multiple reasons.

Why specifically? I'm curious why you wouldn't plant in them.

It is quite simple, it is a personal preference. I prefer plainer pots for my bonsai, nothing elaborately carved or glazed.

???? im just mindblown on all this because i have no idea on pottery so it amazes me u wouldnt even use a pot tht was intended to be used you feel?
Some things can be appreciated in amd of themselves, without the need to put them to use. In the case of the crab pot, it would be hard to find a tree for that pot. In bonsai, the tree should always be the focus, and the pot should complement the tree, not outstage it. While a great pot, it would detract from the tree. My 2 cents.

OK Junior, I agree with that completely.
