Thought I'd give the ol' flap fold technique a go with this fairly average Fagus.

In retrospect, I think I should have trunk chopped, left enough room for the work, then let the little bud grow into a new leader. Instead I clumsily knocked off the ideal potential leader, and I couldn't find my solid cut paste so used liquid instead.
