How do you feel about pound cypress compared to bc?
I've owned both BC and pond cypress. Like the pondy, LOVE the BC. the pond cypress wasn't as nearly as vigorous as BC. the Pond was also less winter hardy--a hard winter here in Va. killed mine. You won't have that issue however.

I've got Metasequoia DR, and Taxodium disticha BC.
I do find DR to be fully winter hardy in zone 5b. BC in zone 5b are fine in the ground but a little tender when in a pot.
Both are more than hardy enough to keep in zone 5, but the BC should be given at least a little protection for winter if they are in a pot.

I think I like BC a little better, but both are fun to work with
