I bought a young Trident Maple online a few weeks ago, and shortly after unpacking the tree dropped a limb leaving a collar. This was about 3-4 weeks ago. My bonsai tools FINALLY came in (along with cut paste and all). Looking at the collar wound, there is still some green tissue present around the edge of the opening.
Is there anything I can do to address this collar even though the wound has been present and open for a few weeks? Should I do anything? It's pretty prominently located in what I think will be the front of the tree.
I'm not necessarily opposed to the scar because it's a natural thing that happens to trees but I just don't want it getting out of hand.
Thanks to everyone!
