The annual club show is coming up, it’s in a new location this year. Last year’s demonstrations were by Mel Ikeda and Ann Erb. In addition to tree and pot sales by members, there will also be a vendor selling pots, tools, slabs, and possibly stands.

The quality and amount of trees in the member’s sale area varies year-to-year. I’m not sure who or what kind of trees the vendor is bringing. Here’s a coast redwood that was one of several for sale by a member in 2016. Last year there were less trees and no redwoods, but every year I’ve been there were some nice moderate quality pots for cheap. I’ll be getting rid of some odds and ends, mostly saplings for just a couple $ each. I have to move a couple flats of 2017 JBP seedlings to make room for my 2018 contest crop! I also have too many 2016 Osage Orange saplings (But they seem to like SoCal)

I lived in downtown Santa Barbara for four years. Really miss it. My wife cried for a week when we moved to NY.

Here’s some cell phone pics of my favorite trees. The vendor was Bonsai Creations of San Louis Obispo and had a nice assortment of pre-bonsai and supplies.
