When friends or family ask you what you want for Christmas/Birthdays and it’s always a tree, seeds or gardening supplies depending on budget. My personal favorite was the look on someone’s face when I suggested a bag of substrate.
Nothing wrong with that! I got several bags for Christmas!!

My last mini trip was planned around bonsai. Went to Cincinnati to pick up my tigerbark...sit in on a bonsai meeting, a surprise private lesson with Adam Lavigne came out of it for the last day there. I traveled with my too-little Ficus. I wanted to be certain my front wasn't tunnel vision for a possibly different take on the tree. With it having different styles per side.
Showing up at the B&B with my tree...and the owner curious I had a tree along with me for the stay...then learned I was bringing back another one. She was intrigued. She got into plants...so she was curious.
The conservatory had a "theme" going on...and the bonsai were not on display...so I snuck into an area for "employees only" to get a peek at the bonsai that were tucked out of view.

...when you decide to go on a solo, wild tree huntin’ journey in the woods.. a man, a very military-looking rucksack.. and a big, old rusty shovel... aaand you end up causing a jogger to turn around in her spot and run the OTHER way, FAST. So you scream, “The shovel us just for trees!” as she cruises away from you.... realizing that TRYING to explain it... makes you seem MORE conspicuous.
If you put your truck cap on so you can take trees,tools and soil components with you while on vacation... you might be a B'Nut.
