Someone help me choose a new pot?!?!
It is in a 12.5in plastic growing pot. I was thinking a nice drum pot would work.

That one is too light IMO...

But I dig the shape!

Is the picture showing the front?

To give better help, please show the tree from the front, at a lower viewing angle.

Luke,

It is probably too late in the season to repot this tree. Leave it in this pot.

It also looks like you have recently pruned it back. Cutting off the growing ends.

This tree appears to be a Japanese White Pine grafted onto Japsnese Black Pine. The cultivar of JWP they use is a dwarf variety. It makes very pretty tufts of needles. But it is not very vigorous, nor does it backbud very well. Pruning like you have done can unfortunately cause it to lose the branch entirely! I hope it pulls through for you.

So, since you've weakened the tree with the pruning, you certainly don't want to weaken it more with mis-timed repotting. Leave it in the current pot until 2017.

You don't have any location info in your profile... That makes it difficult to give good, timely, advice.

The guy wires are pretty much ineffective, and the way you've done it will damage both branch and root. Please remove them.

To learn how to properly wire a tree, go to www.craftsy.com. Colin Lewis has an excellent tutorial on how to wire. The tutorial is free once you register. Search for "bonsai", and you'll find it.

I have just received the tree from a friend. I understand it is too late re-pot. He "supposedly" got the tree from a grower from Japan. I do agree the tree is a bit week, but it has come back quit a bit from where he had it. I also shall remove the guy wire. My location is (Asheville NC).

Cool.

These are grafted in Japan and exported.

At this point just leave it be. Water it, of course. Start fertilizing mid summer. Early fall is the best time to wire these.
