What I would like to get is a Kaneshin No.12 knob cutter. That's not in my budget. What I bought was the "professional grade" knob cutter from Tian Bonsai. As you can see in the picture, these cutters are completely ineffective. The jaws do not even meet.

Is there a somewhat less pricey brand that produces a decent knob cutter, preferably a large one like the 300 mm Kaneshin No. 12? Stainless steel would be fine.

Do you have a grinder? Grind down the metal pin a little and they will meet eventually. Go slow s you do not make it too small!

I have a number of Ryuga tools, and they’re really decent. Only had most of them for a year so I can’t give a long term opinion but I’m extremely happy with them.

I have the following from Ryuga:
Branch cutter 203mm (carbon steel).
Knob cutters (CS)
Root cutters (SS)
Smaller wire cutters (CS)
Large wire cutters (SS)
Jin pliers (SS)

The side-concave cutters are rubbish though. They are weak as butter and bend whenever you get a handcramp.
