This seems to be a willow but I am not positive. I checked with an app and one of the suggestions was white willow.

Ideas?

Anyhow, I put several fat cuttings in dirt so maybe they will come up!

They will DEFINITELY root. And as Nozzlehead said, looks to be Willow.

Juuuust make sure they have enough roots for your cold winter... and don’t “transplant” them FOR winter after august, I wouldn’t transplant them at all until spring, personally... Id recommend just leaving them THE HELL alone... that’s a big “secret” for Spring/summer cuttings! 🤣🤣

Having said all this.. Salix are notoriously tough... but i’d still “treat them right”

I got a bunch of cuttings from the trunk of a sapling. Maybe I will just do a trunk chop too and collect the whole thing next spring. I have some weeping willows that I put in dirt just 3 weeks ago and they are growing amazingly well.
