Hey guys… I have a Chinese Elm that is leafing out. It was a gift from one of the big online vendors. It’s having some drainage issues and time to repot.

Do I repot as the buds are swelling now? Or… wait until potential unexpected freeze are behind us here in 9b.

Safe to repot as we leaf out later on?

Brussels yeah? I can tell that soil a mile away now, after losing my corkpine.

I would think you could repot now if you give it frost protection going forward.

I would think there would be no problem repotting in Baton Rouge as a zone 9. Light frost won't bother a recently repotted tree. Are pots likely to freeze solid for a few days at a time down there? Weather I've checked says not likely?

Chinese elm don't seem to have any problem if repotted after leaves are opened either.
