It's time for this tree to have its own thread.
Tree has recovered and growing well after just 2 months. Carving for taper will be done in May. Trunk may be hollowed out winter 2024

How likely are you to step out into your backyard one day, your foot plants into the ground, and you simply grow into a bald cypress tree?
I will take care and not take off my mud boots else the roots will take. I've got grandbabies to chase. New roots are not advisable.

Back to this tree, while traveling last week, my mind kept coming back to this tree. I am going to carve this thing soon.

Carved to imitate a BC with apex torn away by wind and the tear goes down the trunk.

I can’t wait for this tree to get healthy. The tree dictates the style this time. The tap root cut did not heal properly. There was a die off on 1/3rd of the trunk. The bark on that section finally fell off, revealing massive heal edges.

Once the tree leafs out a is vigorous, I will carve a cavernous hollow that will connect with the trunk chop carve on the other side. It will be a see through trunk.
