I did a straight across cut. It grew a new leader. When I chopped the leader short, I cut the slant.

Gotcha! I'm excited to see this one in a forest.

Thinking about putting one together here soon. I have an okay sized one about 3" base that I'd use as my main tree and another with about a 2" as the second focal tree. Just need to get some smaller trees together.
