Collecting Manzanita

Linsay Shiba has a large and very old collected manzanita, I posted the picture in BonsaiTalk long time ago.

I don't remember seeing it or I would have kept my mouth shut and avoided a lot of grief.

I saw the tree two years ago, and it was very healthy.

The Manzanita is still alive

I talked to the owner of that tree (Lindsay Shiba) last week and he told me the tree is fine. He said he dug the tree on a north facing slope out of some shale and was able to get a good amount of roots. He keeps the tree in volcanic cinders, doesn't over water it and doesn't feed it fertilizer with acid.
