I bought this Colorado Spruce from Todd Schlafer of First Branch Bonsai at PBE in October of 2024. I liked the thick base, gentle movement, and variety of styling options that seemed to be available.
As purchased:

I repotted it last January in a workshop with Adam Toth. Because it was a collected tree and still largely in it's native soil, we did a half bare root (HBR). This may or may not have been overly cautious, but neither I nor Adam had any prior experience with this species.
In November, we gave the tree it's first styling. I wired a good third of the tree in the workshop with Adam and finished the rest of the wiring/styling at home. Given my skills aren't at Adam's level, I'll take it to this month's workshop and see what changes he makes. I think I did okay, but I'm sure he will make improvements.
