Common Coral Tree (Erythrina lysistemon) - Progression and thoughts

I'd keep the golden rule in mind and leave it off center
It works perfectly for me there.

Perfect increments of "over a little"....

Pot, base, canopy....

The proportions of over a little work well.

God Damn D.

I missed this?
Another beaut? And I didn't call this that!

Love it.

Quick update on my Coral tree.

Been growing nicely over summer as I have tried to bring the canopy lower and make it wider.

This picture was taken in November 2017

It is mid winter and it is in winter silhoutte mode now

Consider growing bigger tree for flowers;)? Looks pretty good for thorny monster tree.

The problem is that these corals only flower on the previous years growth.
This is one branch that I left in 2016 to see what the flowers will look like. See the problem that happens. It just grows way too long and the whole tree is just too small to do that.

Even if I plant it out, I will have to start from scratch.

Lovely tree! congrats!

Im also growing one that was given to me by my South African friend, however i have to say its not doing the best for some reason and i cant figure it out.
New leafs coming out nicely, deep rich green color but than once they grow a bit they go more yellow pile and stay like that. I dont get branching, just long stick with some leafs on top
I cant get a tree vigor back or something, in summer it was in the greenhouse and fro winter it comes to the house.
Any idea why?

Thanks so much for the kind words.

This species loves heat (Hot and dry) and seems to that the hotter it gets the better it grows. I see you are in Ireland so it could be that it gets too cold and too wet.

In Winter you almost have to not water it at all. You can see the pot it is currently in, only gets water 1x a week and it stands in full sun.

Keep on cutting it back. It will branch out from where you cut it.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks
D

Thanks for reply,
Yea the heat might be an issue, but in the greenhouse is pretty hot, maybe to much humidity.....
I will follow your advice, i dont water it to often but maybe its still to often :)
