This wont really be a bonsai but I've been wanting to get creative with this crepe myrtle out back. It grows like crazy and would be fun to do something with it. Thought I would start a thread about it. This winter I can chop it with bonsai look in mind instead of the normal way of cutting the top level.
I can surly come up with something that looks better than it does now. The flowers are almost gone off it in the last picture but they look great.20160618_112750.jpg

Nice!

I always wanted to get one.
How much was it?

I want to get one with a timer to set up in front of a tree and take a pic a day to watch it grow.

Man.....

I just got out of your BRT thread!
I love that tree!

I love the raintree. About 2 months a year I get to look at it inside in front of the window in the living room. It drops about 70% of its leaves in the winter inside. I think its mad and wants to go back outside.
Those cameras start at around $60 on ebay.

Are planning a bonsai with this now? Someone's going to think you're the Texas Crape Myrtle Massacre. :D
That's funny. Just planning to see what happens. Probably never dig it up but shape it to look nice. It grows like a weed out back.

One things for sure, I don't need to let it grow in the ground any longer. The trunk is plenty thick.
