Delonix Regia - Flame tree

my true seedling showing 🫠

are there any wiring technique resources you found particularly useful for DR trees or was it more so trail and error?

I 've grown Delonix regia indoors in colder climates, it's hard to keep the temp/humidity right for them without a special setup. If not they either yellow or drop leaves until they run out of energy. At least that has been my experience with these and some full tropical trees, especially compound leaves. It's like Mad Tabby said, they don't seem to like changes. I can move most semi-tropical/tropical trees outdoors when it's warm enough with little stress, I've always had problems with those. More power to you if you can get them to thrive indoors. The dropping leaves is normal for those, even with good grow lights and trying to keep up the humidity.

I managed to grow 4 Delonix Regia trees here in New Zealand ( about 1 foot height ) I forgot about them over the Winter and they all died .
Hope to get more seeds when I get to India

I snapped mine in half whilst wiring. Definitely a lesson learned there 😅

Just returned from India and have fresh seeds , cant remember what i did to get them to germinate ? any suggestion

With true fresh seeds I don't know if they need a pre-treatment. I think I used nail clippers to cut off enough of an edge for water to get in and only soaked them for a few hours for them to swell. I think you treat them like Acacia, or Pithecellobium seeds. Put in a bag with the paper towel method until they sprout.

I got a couple to germinate last year and one this year by sanding part of the outer seed coating off and then soaking in warm water for 24 hours.

Now, if I could just get my two from last year to wake up and put out some leaves, that would be great. They are green and put out tiny green buds, but nothing yet. I suspect they're either dying slowly or they are waiting for hot weather.

Sandpaper works too, I guess. Unless it's like a can you shake, I prefer to clip them. Green and buds = good sign. I assume they are in the ground then?
