An appearance on VA' s thread....
This tree got the M.F. treatment.

Before....

A special shot for Mrs. @Nwaite

Carnage....
I pulled a root up and off...
All this work was done via hands...
No trimming...

Maybe I did use snips a bit.

After....20160426_135800.jpg

Note...this is not a bonsai....more like an experiment....
A way to lose some garbage before I move.
I was looking for the Dead Tree forum...But it is a juniper!

I clicked the first option just because I liked it :D But then the second option sounded nice too. You make it so hard to decide.

Seriously, I think survival will depend on the care afterwards.

Lol, i thought it was a noob's thread with another "inside"-juniper, but then i saw the pot ;)

Nice tree

Nice finger

And even better sweet tattoo. ..

Give it a chance. You just never know. Was it growing when you did this?

It was...and it still(yeah that's nothing)
Looks good.

I tell you sure...
No more Nanas.
They just don't dig me and this weather.

I will be happy with Elms, Buckthorns, and J.Crack.

Oh...and Mugo for a pine of course!
Maybe them Jacks.

I was out looking at them a minute ago...
And my "blue rug" is Friggin electric blue and mad healthy...bought and wired in spring...minor wire...but I took off like 70% of the foilage.

I think if I stay away from fall wiring I could be ok.... I think it's a little too stressful before an unprotected winter.

The Sargents are tough as nails! (Obviously!)
I went with "who cares it sucks anyway" because that is pretty much my motto! Seriously though, pic 2 above looks pretty cool! Like the movement...

You got a yappy looking photo bombing little dog behind it though... That dog ain't protecting shit man! I want a dog big enough to scare of ISIS if they come to town- Yours wouldn't scare a squirrel! LOLLING
I do like Sargents... They grow quick for a Juni, this guy is going to explode next Spring if you bump it up to a larger pot!

Good luck with it man!

Awww...he scares squirrels...

It's not thriving...but at this point...living is good enough!

Get into a larger pot, not a basket and make sure the surface roots are covered with water retaining substrate. Serious, I never let mine dry out and the shallow basket you use is promoting it. All of your Juniper might have survived had you done that ;) Also, consider a organic or semi organic mix so you don't need to water more then twice a day. They love Sun but being in a windy climate you seem to be battling dry conditions and that will resolve it.

Takes the M.F. treatment in stride..
The only way to fly!

I have friend in the Army K-9 training facility. He says over there the whole population are scared of their dogs. The German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois.

There's an ad for a movie called Pets. There is a dog on there that reminds me of Monkey.

@Anthony Though I am a bit skeptical of the whole, "top does what the bottom does theory".....
And because this thing is obviously not going to be "vigorous" this year...

I like to think that the basket is keeping the foliage in this pretty reigned in.20160803_064530.jpg
If only to prove Sifu wrong, (that baskets could help Junipers), as it is one of my goals in bonsai!:p

Just even short healthy growth.

This tree may very well need to start saluting you, Mr. Pokemon Go Master.

It didn't die!
