just in the first 2 pages that opened up when I typed Bonsai at ebay I found
the following...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimpaku-ju...487?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd966e347

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Campeche-lo...137?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19e5d57981

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Floweri...063?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2cdf4bb7

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-bl...093?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c780678d5

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bonsai-Tree...112?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19e5bfab60

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Tan-F...828?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2cf78204

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-re...866?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecc5786fa

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-re...381?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecc5790cd

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Campeche-Ha...171?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4616e818cb

Now for some folks here, they may be able to get some cheaper prices depending
on where they live in the country, and their accessibility...
But, for others if they live some place where certain types of trees aren't so available,
then I think the asking prices for most of these are pretty fair.

Are these great trees... perhaps not, but most have potential, that someone with
some talent could make into some pretty descent trees...

I'm not in a position to judge many of those trees, but $60 for that spindly hornbeam? Seems a little pricey to me.

There are definitely good deals on trees on ebay, but it takes a little searching. I've bought 2 or 3 trees this way and felt in each case the tree was worth the price I paid. However...there is always a risk buying a tree that you can't see in person. Even if the seller posts good photos (and provides more if you ask), there are some issues that you just can't really appreciate until you have the tree in front of you. For that reason, I'll never spend as much on a piece of stock on ebay as I would if I could see it in person.

Grim I have this exact set of tools haha! I just wanted to get a nicer set, although I do use a few of the ones I have still, I want to leave the cheap set at the garden I work at.

Well as I stated I have a close to 500usd Roth set I will play with this Spring but honest the Stanwood stuff works and is not crap quality. I find the carbon is easy to maintain as well. Not being a "Bonsai Operation" or business I find them acceptable. If they were not a gift I would have spent the 500usd on something else...

I'm not sure which cliche to use here.
1. A fool and his money are soon parted
2. Some people have more money than brains
or
3. I also have some ocean-front property in Las Vegas you might be interested in...

Maybe I'm spoiled, but the stuff available each spring at the Potomac Bonsai Association Spring Festival puts this selection and pricing to shame. But I guess if ya gotta have it now, go for it.

somehow feel the need to comment on what I post ???
How can this be ??? For if you did... you would have read the
following that I posted...

Now for some folks here, they may be able to get some cheaper prices depending
on where they live in the country, and their accessibility...

And you wouldn't of wasted our time telling us how you
can get things where you live cheaper...

Perhaps your need to try and prove me wrong gets
the better of you ???

The waste was when I clicked on all those links. All I am saying is that most of what is on ebay is overpriced because the seller knows someone out there will buy it, and shipping will likely drive the price into the stratosphere.
If you want to shell out unnecessarily high prices on ebay, have at it! !!! ... ???

Again...
Do you actually read what I have posted ???
If so... can you please show me where in
any of my posts I mentioned waste ???
Or that I wanted to shell out unnecessarily
high prices ???
You just make crap up, don't you ???
Perhaps you'd be better off trying to go
through and correct the errors of my
grammer again...

Bonsai outlet sent me a link for half off their beginner tools. They are decent tools for the beginner getting started. Me personally i stay away from ebay when it comes to bonsai.

Amazing how someone having a different opinion is so often taken as a personal attack. Far too many threads derailed by this nonsense.

I think far to many threads are derailed by people not
Actually reading what was posted before commenting !!!
If one actually takes the time and reads what is posted,
And forms a difference of opinion based on what was
Actually posted... then there wouldn't be no need for
Nonsense, plain and simple...

The thread states that there is nothing on ebay worth
Anything... I disagreed. Posted up links, even went so
Far as to say that for some they might be able to get
Better deals in their neck of the woods, but for others
This is not the case... so for them this is a fair price.

Then I get threads telling me that they can cheaper
Prices in their neck of the woods, and smart comments
About how if I want to pay rediculous prices then go
Ahead ...

I mean really ??? The reason for the disagreement was
Over exactly what I had previously agreed upon !!!
So, either the poster didn't take the time to actually read
What was posted... Didn't care what was posted and was
Just disagreeing because I had posted it... or is just plain
Dumb !!!

Talk about nonsense... and I just spent how much time
Dealing with a stupid thread over whether prices are to high
On ebay...
Listen folks if you think the prices are to high, then don't dish
Out the money !!! Wait until your local club, birthday party,
Circus event comes to town and spend the money there.

I hate how posts get derailed also, furthermore I hate how people instigate, fan flames, and then throw their hands up self-righteously and act like they did nothing to cause the derail.

Dude... what are you smoking ???
Now you are telling me that you already posted,
What I already agreed that you posted ???
Please tell me this is a joke ...

OK... let me try to explain as clearly as I can.
I said in my initial post some people could get
Material cheaper... you replied that I was wrong,
That you could get material cheaper...

How then am I wrong ??? If we are both saying
The exact same thing ??? This logically makes no
Sense.

Now here's were it gets really strange !!!
On a post were I am currently discussing what you
Said... in essence, acknowledging that you said it.
You then accuse me of not realizing that you said it ???

Ummmm....... yeah, I know you said it, cause I was actually
Discussing what you said...

Not trying to derail the derail but Imho I think your wrong. If you look at coh' s reply. He spoke with kindness and respect and didn't use the word idiot in terms of the opposing view, did he garner any bickering? No

What if I started this response with, many wise cliches work here ,

1) the fool thinketh another opinion is not a personal attack
2) he who smelt it doth certainly dealt it

How would you feel? Like I'm stating an opinion or attacking yours?

I hate how posts get detailed also, furthermore I hate how people instigate, fan flames, and then throw their hands up self-righteously and act like they did nothing to cause the derail.
With all due respect... this whole thread is a derailment.
I mean, at least once a month we have to have this exact
Discussion, over and over about Ebay... and for some strange
Reason there always has to be some snobby views by some
Members here at B-Nut that they are somehow better than a
Website that does nothing but sell things....

I don't get it... I mean what is the point ???
If you can't find something worth of value on a site that has billions
Of crap for sale... then I don't think the problem is Ebay...

ok so the tools were re-posted thanks to the seller, you can blatantly see the chop/insignia on the tools now. Please let me know if you recognize it, please tell me. I'm seriously considering it. Is it kaneshin? It's looks it.

Holy shit, lil douchey seller raised the price on me instead of lowering it :/

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bonsai-Tools-Made-in-Japan-Never-Used-/171188872918?pt=US_Garden_Tools&hash=item27dba6e6d6

So... Did anyone ID that chop for you yet? I can't help you out there, still too much of a dirtbag grower to own real bonsai tools much less ID a chop. I'm sure someone here would recognize it.

Sawgrass, thanks I'll be keeping an eye on that post, but I'm willing to wager the reserve will put in the range of the other Japanese set, which was leather not leatherette, which was the only reason I wanted it :p

Wireme, no luck on the chop yet but it's ok, I identified one of the tools, the tweezers, to be asagini I think they're called? The others I could not identify yet. Most of the tools have a kind of branch with two leaves on the right handle and a symbol followed by the Japanese characters underneath the left handle. I am going to hold off and put a little more money in my tool fund and keep looking.
