Wow, she's beautiful, and a crape myrtle, I'm so jealousAthena - the crepe myrtle. Not bad for 9 months of growth from a stump at collection.
Thanks. I was lucky to find her at an old homestead right along a country road. This was a SPROUT from the mother tree which was probably 2 1/2 feet+ in diameter........ approx. 3/4 of a meter for everyone else in the world. There were still remnants of the mother tree. It must have been impressive back in its day. The pic is of the hollow back of the tree. Judging by the curve of the hollow, the mother tree must have been impressive indeed.Wow, she's beautiful, and a crape myrtle, I'm so jealous

Incredible, I love crape myrtles, though I have yet to find one for myself. Do you know what color the flowers are? Thanks for sharing. The combination of the bare wood and that unique crape myrtle bark will be interesting too.Thanks. I was lucky to find her at an old homestead right along a country road. The flowers are a kind of red/purple/lavender. Very showy. The only bad thing about crepes for bonsai is that the flowers tend to grow on long, extending shoots.............not really well-suited for bonsai. I plan to prune for a happy medium of bonsai proportions and flower enjoyment.Incredible, I love crape myrtles, though I have yet to find one for myself. Do you know what color the flowers are?
