Good morning, I’m thinking of getting my fig ficus bonsai a grow light and would be very grateful of any recommendations please. I live in the south and my tree gets 0 sunlight where I am.

Many thanks in advance

I use a spiderfarmer sf2000 (LED) and my ficus are loving it

That model is maybe a bit big for the 1 tree but they will have smaller available

The main thing is make sure its full spectrum light and don't waste your time with the blurple coloured ones!

Hope this helps

Good morning - Thank you very much for your help. I’ll have a look now. Do you keep your trees under this 24/7 or just a few hours here and there.

No problem!

18 hours on and 6 off, use one of those timer plugs for an easier life!

If you're on a tight budget, I've had decent experiences with many of the Feit Electric grow bulbs and lights as supplemental lighting for my tropicals in winter. They have a big but North facing window, so a couple cheap lights help them not get too leggy over winter.

Feit tends to list their PAR/PPF ratings as an average over an area, which makes their numbers look worse than others in the same market, but it actually indicates that they know how their product is used in the end, and that they know what they're doing even if they're just the little guys.

Hi, Would you mind walking me through your set-up?

Photo period :
Distance from canopy:
Dimmer setting:

I have that same light and when I tried it on my ficus the leaves turned yellow, the tips turned dark red and eventually some brown spots appeared on the leaves and they fell. I my old LED lights back on (more cold white) and they are now doing ok

Willow Leaf Ficus? I'm having the same issue with yellow leaves (Viparspectra1500 pro xs, 60%, 15-20 DLI, 12-16in from canopy). Everything else seems to love it.

Microcarpa. My jades love it but my ficus didn't.

I run 18hrs on

12 inch from canopy

At 80%

With regular misting

I wonder if it's a case of adjusting to the light intensity? I've experienced ficus completely defoliating itself when moving outside before

Check the ppfd diagram, there are higher intensity spots than others, maybe try lower light areas for a while

Wow! I was nowhere near that in terms of intensity. I was 14Hrs about 24-30 inchs above and 80%. I don't know if they would have died or just defoliated had I kept going but they were NOT doing great lol.
