First ever seedlings

Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to the bonsai world but I've bought a few trees that have been successful over about a year.

I've also been trying my hand at growing pine seedlings (not entirely sure of the exact name as they were from a mixed bag). Mine are also looking very spindly. I read somewhere about techniques of thickening the stem but I'm a bit nervous to try them out. Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about thickening them out a bit?

They get plenty of sun at a South-facing window but I live in the UK so Sun can be problem. I've experimented with a grow light as well. View attachment 251401

Pines must be kept outside if survival desired:rolleyes:. No wonder leggy.

And then there were 2

When the buds started opening I knew I had lost the rest haha. Looking healthy now it seems. Hope for a good strong second season for them!

I’m hoping so! I have a good crop of JWP seedlings from this year, so I should be able to get way more through the first winter if the percentage is the same haha.
