Thanks Judy! Out of curiosity. What do you prefer in terms of stand coloration? Deep and dark browns?
For me yes. But I do pretty much only Deciduous. I can see this going very well with some sort of gnarly old ponderosa. I could also see it pairing with a heavy oak tree.

An oak in spring could be really lovely. I could see it making the spring color of a larch or other bright foliage opening pop real well.

I don’t what he used Pitoon. He’s a local maker who utilizes end grain and fire with excellence.
I would have to imagine it being a hardwood of some sort? Also cutting the end grain at 45's and then glue 4 blocks together to get squares on with the end grain looks good too.
