Flowers 2025

Trumpet vine: The only bad thing is the flowers need to grow on LONG shoots, so the bonsai silhouette is compromised. Small price to pay.

Horribly invasive around here, but those orange or golden trumpets are gorgeous, and loved by pollinators, especially for hummingbirds. I try to eliminate them in my yard, because they seem to be either kill or leave alone plants, as they really can't be controlled once established. Yours looks great.

I wouldn't call them invasive here. There are so many competitors in our climate that no one plant generally takes over.

Another walk in the hills with the kids.
The cactus are starting to bloom!

This desert lily didn't want to cooperate with me. On the lookout for better ones. Need to get me one or two in a pot.

This looks like rosemary, maybe?
Wild potentilla species of some sort. There are several types that grow around here. I see the ones with yellow flowers at higher altitudes, but I don't know if there are any that can really be called "alpine." Could be wrong on that though.
