No, not a Doo Wopp group Sorce (sp.)

Jewel tones is a group of colors reminiscent of the colors of color saturated gem stones. Mostly in the dark blues and purples and greens. Like these glass vases.

I tend to be drawn to these colors when shopping for earrings for my wife. She tells me I always buy the same things, even scarves.
This is my collection of jewel toned pots for Fall. Please add yours if you have some.
First up is a pot Darlene wanted to see closer. It is a pot built my So Cal. artist Kit Boheme. Retired mostly now but very prominent in the 70's and 80's. This pot starts with a crude clay box deeply incised vertically and then a small hole is opened and a lit firecracker is put in and allowed to explode blowing the top open and expanding the sides.

This next pot is by Horst Heinzlreiter. Free form, rather "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" looking.

This free form accent pot is by "Big Dave Rochester" a member here who died suddenly about two years ago.

So these jewel tones...make fall color trees a perfect companion pairing? That one I asked about...that one is really special. Not only for it's design but the story of how the potter created it. Genius! Can't say I own any that I can share with...but those are lovely. The one meant for a moss ball. I would imagine quite charming potted up. Thanks Al...For not only sharing a close up of the pot I asked about...but all these other gems.

A lot of the pots I have here are for accent plantings. A couple would be for trees as in traditional shaped pots but most are dishes.

A Japanese potter I do not know.
