Hey all,
What is the best insecticide for combating mealy bugs and scale on the fukien teas....i would probably throw this thing in the trash (not really) but its been with me for over 10 years.... pyrethrins seem to slow down the pests but they seem to come back.
Thoughts?

You have a care problem.
Maybe soil mix.
Maybe you forgot to let it go dormant from Christmas till February's end.
Maybe you let the temperature go to low or too high during winter.
[ the temperature bit takes months for the plant to sort out.]

Insecticides are just a temporary solution.
Good Day

Anthony,
In the mid atlantic of the USA I can not allow a dormant period for this type of tropical.
I will investigate soil mix as i may have some issues below the surface.
THanks!

B look up Sub-Tropical,

Fukien tea is not Tropical.
Mainland China has no tropical zone.
They are grown outdoors.

See zone 9 and drop one zone for the Bonsai Pot - zone 10
Hope that helps.
Good Day

Morning,
Is there a certain chemical you recommend for the systemic insecticide and or do you have a certain brand of insect. soap that you buy?
B.
I use Garden Safe insecticidal soap and Bonide or Ferti-lome rose food with systemic insecticide. I use it on Japanese Maples, Crepe Myrtles, Azaleas, etc. etc. with no ill effects. The local Mom and Pop nursery owner turned me on to it 15 odd years ago.

I am in the tropics, no real help.

Try this - in General Questions - ask for help
with Indoor Growing.
Fukien Tea is up there with problem trees.
Good Day
