I was wondering if any potter on here has achieved the turquoise of koyo pots? If so, how?
If one does... We are not telling!I was wondering if any potter on here has achieved the turquoise of koyo pots? If so, how?
It is an Oribe glaze integrating metals that "chrystalize" in the glaze... I am sure no potter, but other stuff have pulled it off.and those speckles... how? I want to try
I respect this... I understand wanting to figure it out but I also feel it would be best left alone. If one does... We are not telling!
I know secrets about it, but haven't tried hard enough to pull it off.
Thanks a lot. Bummer it requires oxidation.if you want a nicely written start on the journey, I won't discourage you further though.here is a good place to start - https://bonsaiprelude.wordpress.com/2014/01/23/glazed-and-confused/
Don't give up that easy! As Eric pointed out, besides the color, the special thing about this glaze is the crystallization, which is achievable in reduction. I assume that is what your using based on your response. Also to flip Anthony's response - clayart has pages and pages of threads on oribes. There is more than one way to achieve something similar in your environment. A hint - most oribes are high fire reductions. Thanks a lot. Bummer it requires oxidation.
