Found this little guy after whacking down a forest of ivy with a machete and agressively raking whatever remained. Dunno how it survived that onslaught but after tearing out some final strands of Ivy it caught my eye immediately because I have dozens of plant and tree species in my garden but nothing resembling this guy.
It does look somewhat similar to something my neighbours grow so I have some idea.

Some top dollar "Jin" 😂

Anyway fate has decided this guy was not ready to die just yet so I gave it a pot and lets see what happens.
Maybe wire some movement when it's still young?

Cute find. Could be anything from a Pepper Tree to a Podocarpus. Time will tell. Wire it in the Fall when it's safest.

Posting your location in your profile would help.

It looks like a Yew seedling to me too.
Common in the Netherlands.
How did it get Shari?

The firewood on top of the soil can make it more difficult to see when it time to water.

Location definitely takes some of the guesswork out of ID as some species are less likely to grow in certain parts of the world while others are more likely. No indication what part of the world this seedling has grown which makes it that much more difficult for us to ID.

Can't help if you don't post your location.

Netherlands.

A Yew would make sense, my neighbours used to have a taxus hedge until a few years ago.
Please put that info in your avatar to the left so we don’t have to search for it in subsequent thread and this one
