Hi,
I’m relatively new to Bonsai, I’ve had this tree since December and all has been well until this past week when suddenly my Bonsai started looking a bit worse for wear (picture attached). I wondered if anyone knows any tips of how to save it?

Best wishes

The condition is probably related to it being kept indoors. There are very few plants that really like living inside a house.
Without further background it is hard to pin down any other cause.
Lack of water can cause plants to look like this.
Conversely, keeping the soil too wet all the time can also cause the same symptoms.

Adding a location to your profile will give us extra clues as seasons are completely different depending where you are living.

Hi!
Thank you for the reply, I live in south England and we did just have a very hot spell the other week so I’m wondering if that that anything to do with this. I’m also cautious to overwatering so I would hope that that is not the case but still possible.

If you suspect lack of water then first aid is soak the pot in a tub of water for at least 30 min to make sure the roots are properly wet all the way through then allow to drain.
Misting and light watering is not enough to sustain roots through dry spell. The leaves are constantly taking water out. Light watering only wets the outer part of the root ball. The pot gets drier and drier every day until there's just not enough moisture to sustain the tree through a hot day. Watering must increase as the weather warms up to keep up with the plant's needs.

Good luck with your tree.

also cautious to overwatering

This always leads to underwatering.

Sun position has changed drastically in the last few days/weeks, that can add to problems.

Hot outside leads to AC on inside, more fans? More windows open?

Ok thank you! I will be more careful with my fan use!

Don't adjust your comfort!

Adjust the tree!

I just find that the problem is usually in some odd way related to the "heat", but it's never actually the heat itself.

These small details go a long way in figuring out why a tree died, and understanding how to not repeat the mistake!
