how much do you spend on a decent to good tree??

On some trees I still prefer to buy a tree and do some small stuff to it and neglect it for a couple of years... but waiting 3 years to buy it and then have to wait 3 more years is what I am trying to avoid.

I have come to the point that I realize a tree will take as much time as it takes. For that reason I usually buy trees with good trunks, the one feature that can take years to develop, and I grow the tree from there. I have never paid more the $75 for a tree, that's just me. I know when people first start out they want to have this beautiful Centurion tree sitting on their benches so they proceed to spend big bucks on trees when it they had known things they could have had similar results at half the cost. My point is, I love to develop trees in the direction of Masterpieces, not posses masterpieces unless they are of my own making.

You do what floats your boat and what you can afford. Don't allow someone to make you feel guilty one way or the other.
