Hydrangea petiolaris cordifolia

I dunno if it is easy to root cuttings.. On shadow exposition, the trunk produces aerial roots but i'm not sure if it is really roots... Maybe it is anchor filaments ? Dunno...

I recently found a gnarly little golden-penny hydrangea at my local nursery that was abandoned.

Its growing healthy yellow leaves and some little flowers.

Any advice for 1. Keeping it alive 2. Developing it towards life in a pot

if there is one tree, that i'm sure to keep alive "forever" (as long as i keep it), it is this tree, because it has no known parasites or diseases.. i don't need to treat this tree. Hydrangea loves water (leaves hang down in case of lack of water) so water very frequently, use draining substrate (akadama), use a good amount of fertilizer (i use osmocote and organic fertilizer in pellets).

you should open a separate thread to show pics of your tree and its evolution 👍

here are pics of the repotting this spring ->

the tree before repotting (i want to raise the trunk, i think the trunk is leaning too much, like a slumped tree)

i use sphagnum moss to keep the rootball wet longer (it is very usefull & effective) ->

As you can see, the new leaves of this cultivar ("cordifolia") are beautifull (nice green color and shiny)...
