How long does it usually take for jacarandas to bloom? I've had mine that I made into a bonsai for about 5 years now and hasn't had flowers yet. I'm guessing I've been pruning to much.
Thanks

I've had both of these trees since Christmas 2018, the seed kit was my introduction to bonsai. Outside full sun in Florida the entire time. The one with the thicker trunk was in the ground for around a year. No sign of blooms yet. I've heard people say upwards of 10 years in the ground before blooms appear. The internet images that come up with Jacaranda bonsai searches are either photoshopped, wisteria, bougainvillea or AI. The only believable one I've seen is the one on the Bonsai Empire site. I used some bloom boosting fertilizer this year, the Jacaranda trees in the landscape around here are blooming but not the ones I've got.

Awesome thanks for the info! The one I have definitely grows quite a bit each year. I think I hard pruned it back too many times in hopes to shape it. I'll try to add a picture today. Thanks

Here is a picture. Most everything green has been from this springs growth
