Jade lovers delight

My in-laws had one that was too heavy to move in and out anymore, so they gave it me.

Took the better part of 4 hours to separate, and a couple need a bit more branch selection, but I'm too tired now...

I also need to buy more mica pots now...

Brought the three bigger ones outside today. Still just letting them establish before doing any pruning on them.

Here's a Jade I've had for about 3 years now. I've taken to using the clip and grow method on it to get some basic shaping in. Still not sure if I want to move it into a bonsai pot for it's next repot or go a size bigger and letting the plant grow more aggressively.Jade.jpg

Its planted in a motor controller shell I modified into a planter.
I never realized I had such distinct memories from operating overhead mixers and dispersers until this moment. That box makes some dusty images flash by in my skull.

That sure beats my casino-ashtray jade that I'll come back to post for the picture tax. Love to see an unusual planting.

Nice. Is that Gollums jade?
If it were mine, I would put it in a larger but shallower pot when repotting.

Also,The shape of the tree would be improved-IMO- if the large branch at left was chopped way back.
Would also make a nice cutting.IMG_1962.jpeg

I think it's actually a hobbit jade based on the way the leaves are curling into their tubes but I'm not an expert!

The suggestion on chopping the left trunk back sounds interesting. I'm still newish to bonsai and haven't made my first 'bold' chop but I might just do it. That would give my center trunk room to fan out a bit.

Here are a few succulents Ive grown from free cuttings. I've just brought them inside as the weather is lousy and wet and turning colder here now
Portulacaria afra 'Variegata', Portulacaria afra, Crassula ovata 'Minima' and Crassula 'Gollum'
