Where are you located? Maybe if you could update your profile, you will get some help that will be correct for where you live.

Looks like you need to choose the direction for these trees next growing season, and then start to shape them, then you can wire with that in mind this coming winter, depending on where you live. I think that they are good starting points, but what kind of trees do YOU see these becoming?

I like the first one a lot, it could be made into a really nice little tree. I like the second but don't think it will work for a cascade because of the roots. It might need some more growing out, or a major cutback, one or the other. The roots from that angle don't really work to well for a cascade. I'd always be distracted by them. The first branch has some possibilities for a nice tree. Larch develop real fast, its worth cutting it back now for a better tree in the future.

Iike the first one the second one I would chop down.

I used to give larch advice, but a certain person follows me around and attempts to undo what I say. I'm sure that person will end up here. All my experience is now only available to those who ask in my backyard. Sorry.

Enjoy, they are fun to work with. All my larch trees are doing very well and doing what someone says never happens. I must be some kind of miracle worker:D
