Hello everyone,
I am a beginner in the world of bonsai. In 2 years my collection of bonsai has grown to 3 plants. They may not have the perfect shape but they are healthy and growing.
There is a beautiful Japanese Maple in the garden and I thought it would be fun to take some cuttings of it and see if I can make bonsai from them.
There are quite a few forums and videos about taking cuttings but less about the soil. The term substrate is often mentioned but I find it a bit confusing, hence my question.
My idea is to get a pot, fill it with soil and vermiculite, then dip the cutting in rooting hormone and then put it the soil or do I need to do something else??
Thanks in advance
David
