Hello,

I have recently purchased 9 trees in total. 3 Japanese black pines, 3 J. red pines and 3 J. white pines. I have two other trees that i have been caring for. One is an indoor Schefflera and the other is a Japanese maple. These two are not important. The Pines that I have are seedlings. I thought I would try my hand at growing seedlings. They are all on there second year. (I was told by the guy I purchased from that he planted them last year). I received them and have planted them into pots. I have followed some instructions I found online on how to care for my pines. Anyway I planted them 2 weeks ago and I can already see new growth on them. In doing further research I have found that I should have removed the Taproot before planting. I did not remove this taproot. Is this a problem, and how can I fix this from here? I don't want to replant the trees because they are doing so well but I am not sure if this root is going to cause some problems. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Luke

You can do it next spring. The important thing is to get them in loose, quick draining soil.

Ok thank you. I will do it next spring. I have it in a mix 2 parts commercial soil mix, 1 part coarse sand and 1 part pearlite. This seems to be a quick draining soil. Let me know if you recommend something different.
