As long as you don't know which tree the seeds were taken from, you're not 100% sure, but over time, the trees will develop and identification will become easier. In terms of probability (It is in no one's interest (collector and reseller) to make identification errors) and given the size of the needles, I don't see why I would doubt the authenticity of the species. Not all Japanese white pines have very short & straight needles.If your seeds were imported from China, can you be sure they are indeed Pinus parviflora?
