Hi worldwide bonsaïka,

I'm not at all a JBP grower, does this tree can keep it shape year to years with bonsai technique applied ?

I think would be a good idea to share the best and the difficult part of this famous pine.

With ANY bonsai, there’s new growth every spring. By pinching and trimming, branch extension can be minimized, but branches WILL get longer over time. Every so often (the frequency can vary) bonsai require “cutting back”. This is a more severe pruning that shortens branches, and allows the tree to stay small. The key to success is to always keep healthy, live foliage that’s close to the trunk so that there will be something to cut back to.

So, the answer to your question is “Yes”. JBP can be maintained at a particular size for many, many years.
