JBP Winter Buds

Frankly if you're looking for trunk girth: Plant the seedling into the open ground (protected) by digging a deep hole back fill with 'bonsai type' gravely coarse sand w/some min~4"imal degree of loam (and put the seedling in. Water well, let grow unabled for a full year, sharp shoot a circumference about a foot out from center and repeat. Watch the branches such to not let them get leggy by pruning back buds here and there to densify such to a minimal degree and let it GROW...repeat next year. By about the fifth year you should have nebari about 3"~4" diameters!

Go buy a bunch of seedlings....set up a 'farm row' and you've got future stock. Otherwise spend $3~500 for just one, on what you'll have in 5 yrs...

Choice is yours: it's a time game....
Where is yours?

(This is what I did in 1972) see my JBP after 53 yrs ...wish now I'd put in a dozen of 'em~ hah!
