Still going. Here are just a few. Placed in colanders and wired for some shape this spring. I let wire start to bite in and have started to remove. I don’t want huge scars even though i know it can accelerate thickening. I’ll pribably experiment with double colanders next spring as roots are already coming through the bottom on these.

Double colander this year. Growing strong, roots poking out and one even has a cone going! Still such a long way to go though.

So these are now four year olds And this is what they look like when roots coming through the second colander are cut off enough to pull the tree out, but remain in the frost colander. Most will get put into larger colanders this season to continue to grow out. Will need to pay attention to low branching to make sure buds remain close to trunk, maybe even decandle.

Getting ready for some fall work and snapped some pics today. this is what most of these look like at this point. Sacrifice branches continue to grow and I’m trying to keep low branching in place with buds close to trunk. i think nebari is developing well. Plan will be to continue the current plan although I am tempted to cut the sacrifice and try to make mini black pines in their current state. Not going to though.

I’ve sold the majority of these off but still have two in development. This one has a good base and I like the idea of styling it so it has a ridiculous long first branch like the one in the pic. Check back in another 20 years and we should be there.😂
